I’m a high schooler at Wesleyan School, and I’m excited to use my artistic talents to make a creative piece for this contest. Outside of school, I do a lot of dance, I love music, I’m obsessed with good food, and I love making crafts and creating things. I look forward to sharing my creative work, and I hope you enjoy!

I wanted to enter because I really enjoy arts and crafts and using it to express my ideas. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do just that. I love that I could have fun and enjoy the creative process while also contributing to something meaningful.

The first thing I thought of when I started brainstorming for my art piece was flowers because it reminds me of the growth I’ve experienced in financial literacy through the TAT foundation. I chose the medium of watercolor because it creates a vibrant but soft and delicate feel to the art piece to create the sense of stability people feel when they no longer have to stress about planning for the future and not knowing what to do. I also used watercolor markers to fine tune the details of the painting and to write the key words to make they stand out more.

Artist Statement:

My art piece reflects the positive and beneficial results of financial literacy. Through saving, budgeting, planning ahead, debt management, and investing, which are all important aspects talked about in the workshops, everyone can achieve flourishing success in their personal finances. The I lessons learned from the workshops I’ve attended have been so informative and prompted me to think about my future and my personal financial literacy new ways, so I decided to create a vibrant art piece showcasing the growth I’ve experienced through the TAT foundation. Furthermore, the flourishing theme of the painting is to represent how the amazing mentors at the TAT foundation workshops help our financial literacy to flourish. I’ve seen this especially in us, high school students, how important that is because it helps us to plan ahead for our future and be ready to take on challenges and opportunities in adulthood. I am so thankful for the TAT foundation and how much they’ve helped me grow, and I chose to showcase it all with this painting.
