For many people, financial education feels like a luxury—something you get to once the bills are paid, the kids are settled, and life feels a little more stable. But what happens when the future comes knocking… and you don’t know how to answer?
That’s exactly why The Awesome Team Foundation is part of the national financial literacy campaign to help financially educate 30 million families by 2030. As part of our efforts, we wrapped up a six-part financial education workshop series recently at Talk of the Town Catering and Special Events and educated its team. This initiative was designed for the people who need it most—hardworking individuals who are rarely taught how to make the most of what they already have access to.
Far too often, people don’t even realize the value of the financial tools available to them. So much is left on the table simply because no one ever explained how it works.
At the center of this effort was Tanni Gibson, a licensed financial educator with over 25 years of experience as a benefits specialist at JP Morgan Chase, who helped connect us.
We extend heartfelt thanks to our volunteer educators: Allison Smith, Gary Yip, Tanni Gibson, and Ting Chiu, Founder of The Awesome Team Foundation—for their time, dedication, and generosity. Bridging the gap between The Awesome Team Foundation and the attendees, our team of educators helped participants understand how to maximize retirement options, leverage available benefits, and build long-term financial wellness—not just in theory, but in practical, everyday ways. Their involvement was key to the success of this workshop series.
For many attendees, it was the first time anyone had broken down these financial concepts in a clear, relatable way. The workshops made it easier to connect the dots—how retirement plans work, how to read benefit statements, how to build a healthier cash flow, and how to overcome the mental and emotional stress that often comes with financial instability.
Because here’s the truth: financial empowerment isn’t just for CEOs and investors.
A heartfelt shoutout to Talk of the Town Catering and Special Events for not only opening the door to financial education for their team, but doing so with excellence, heart, and intention. Your commitment to investing in your people is a powerful reflection of leadership that sees beyond the day-to-day—one that values growth, empowerment, and legacy.
And let’s not forget the incredible lunch you served—it was the cherry on top of an already meaningful experience. You didn’t just host us; you inspired us. You truly are the Talk of the Town.
