I am a young man which people think I am a grown man because of my size. I love to eat, play video games, watch tv shows. My favorite subject is Math and I play clarinet in our school band. I love volunteering in JCFC, Awesome Team Foundation, Eagles Team, and Couples for Christ.
I got interested in the workshop and I want to gain more money for my future.
I attended the WSB Workshop 2, and thought of what will represent savings with the different stages in life. I thought of using piggy bank from smallest to largest to show these different stages in life. Making this art made me realize how important financial literacy is especially saving.
Artist Statement:
Did you know that as a young boy, you saved money for a toy and then you realized that you could use that money for better things.
The smallest piggy bank represents a baby or young kid receiving money from family members or friends as a present. Instead of using it to buy more toys and candies, you can save it and put it in a safe place to grow the money.
The second piggy bank represents as a teen starting to realize that money is important in life and has power, that’s why you need to learn how to spend money wisely.
The third piggy bank represents a young adult in college starting to begin in the actual world of responsibilities figuring out that you must buy things that you need and learning how to track how much money you have and where your money is going.
The last and final piggy bank is when you are a full-grown adult. Because you know and understand the importance of money and financial literacy, you learn how to spend properly and buy the things that you dreamed of when you were young for example, a car, and a dream house. Because you learn how to save, you can give what your family needs and go on a nice vacation.
Financial literacy is important for me so that when I go out with friends with the money my parents gave me, I know how to use it properly and wisely.
It is important because if you don’t know the basics about money, you will just waste your money, you will be in too much debt and end up in poverty.
This is what I learned from Workshop 2: Increase Cash Flow and Manage Debt.
As you can see in the picture, saving is a habit that you can start at a young age. The way you will learn how to save you from a young age can help you have a better future.
